The IJCAHPO and ASCRS Technicians & Nurses Program, running April 10–12, will feature leading ophthalmic surgeons presenting on the latest surgical practices, technologies, and OR patient preparation in the surgical track. The 15 courses will focus on disease updates and best practices for treatments, surgery techniques, and technologies.
Innovations in AI, IOL calculations, refractive, and cataract surgery will lead the top program discussions by surgical specialists such as Shameema Sikder, MD, Eva Kim, MD, Thomas Dunn, MD, and Aruoriwo Oboh-Weilke, MD.
Glaucoma courses include specialists Eydie Miller-Ellis, MD, presenting on the latest MIGS issues, and Leslie Jones, MD, delving into efficiency and outpatient glaucoma care enhancement through collaborative practices and glaucoma management.
Current thinking on the treatment of ocular melanoma and lesions, retina diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and AMD will be discussed by William Deegan, MD, and Michael Stewart, MD. Dr. Stewart will address how these important topics shape eyecare teams’ best practices as well as how to assist ophthalmologists and provide high-quality patient care.
Important OR and ASC topics will include assisting in surgery, managing infection control, and ensuring compliance best practices presented by Danielle Thuen, COA, OSC, Elethia Dean, RN, BSN, MBA, PhD, and Apryl McElheny, MSN, RN. Essential areas to be addressed will also include patient workups and the contributions of technicians and nurses to sustainability in the OR. These topics will be addressed by Yazan Abubaker, MD, Barbara Erny, MD, Meg Tharp, MPH, and Diane Blanck.
All sessions are approved for IJCAHPO CE credits, with select courses offering CA BRN credits. A maximum of 15 CE credits can be earned over the course of the event. Joint registration is available for those interested in attending both the ASOA and Technicians & Nurses programs.
